Sony announce PlayStation 5 winter 2020 release date

Sony have revealed the name and release window of their next console, which, as predicted, will be called PlayStation 5.

Along with news of the “holiday 2020” release date, Sony also shared a few details on the console’s new controller. The new pad features haptic feedback technology, which replaces the regular rumble found in older controllers. This allows players to experience “a broader range of feedback,” such as the difference between a tackle in a football game and a car smashing into a wall.

The PS5’s controller will also have “adaptive triggers” that allow developers to tweak the resistance so players can “feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain.” Some studios already have their hands on the new controllers, according to the blog.
