The highly anticipated player housing feature will be coming to the game early next year, ZeniMax and Bethesda have confirmed.

Homestead will be included free with The Elder Scrolls Online’s next big update, allowing players to choose from more than 40 home designs inspired by the game’s ten playable races, and over 2000 furniture and decorative options.
Houses can be purchased unfurnished for gold or Crowns, while fully furnished homes are only available via the game’s Crown Store. ZeniMax confirmed that in the future there will be Crown Store exclusive properties, “including a luxurious island retreat.”
Before buying a property in a new area, players must first pass a few quests given to them by the inhabitants of the area to see if they are worthy. There won't be any houses available to purchase in areas which come as part of any DLC expansions, but players can own multiple homes across Tamriel.

Races aren’t tied to certain designs, so a Nord can own a Khajiit style home, for example, but Imperial style properties will only be available to those who own the Imperial Edition of the game.

Other features of the Homestead update include:

  • Housing Editor tool to re-arrange the interior of a property.
  • Display trophies collected from Trials, Veteran Areas and Dungeons.
  • Craft furniture and decorations by using existing trade skills, with the option to sell them to other players.
  • Purchase rare and unusual items from the Achievement and Luxury Furnishers.
  • Place mounts, pets and even Target Skeletons in your home.
  • Fast travel to your home at any time, with no cost.
  • Host parties, gatherings and invite guild or group members into your home and grant them permission to decorate certain parts of it.

Homestead is out sometime in February on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while PC and Mac users will be able to try it out a little earlier by joining the ESO Public Test Server this January.
