Ubisoft announce Wildlands documentary31/1/2017 Ubisoft are trying their hand at something a little different and have started working on a documentary, telling the real life stories that inspired Ghost Recon Wildlands. Rusty Young, author of Marching Powder, will be your narrator and guide as he travels from Bolivia up through the USA. On his journey he'll meet people from both sides of the law, including coca farmers, smugglers, money launderers, informants and Special Forces soldiers.
George Jung and Tomas McFadden are two of the characters whose stories will be told. The former was portrayed by Johnny Depp in the film Blow, and the latter was the subject of the book Marching Powder. The director, Colin Offland, had a few words to say about the process of gathering source material for the documentary: “We spoke to the people who know the drug trade better than anyone else; iconic characters, from either side of the law, who have defined this continent’s notorious image. The war on drugs is a complex one and we give viewers unprecedented insight to the people who have shaped this landscape, enabling a better understanding of a global issue which affects us all.” Wildlands is due to release 6 March, while Ghost Recon Wildlands launches a day later on 7 March for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
