Bethesda and Arkane Studios are bringing asymmetrical multiplayer to Prey this week, alongside a new single player VR mini campaign.

Typhon Hunter, as the multiplayer mode is known, sees one player take on the role of Morgan Yu while five other players hide somewhere in the level as Mimics, the shape-shifting alien antagonists from the main campaign. In a deadly, sci-fi take on prop hunt, Yu must find and destroy all five other players before time runs out.
A VR version of Typhon Hunter, which puts the player in control of Yu inside the virtual world, is scheduled to arrive sometime in early 2019 for PC and PS VR.

Typhon Hunter will be available for free to those who own either the Digital Deluxe version of Prey or the Mooncrash expansion. If you own the vanilla version of the game, you’ll need to upgrade to either of the two for access.

Arriving alongside Typhon Hunter is a new, VR-only single player “escape-room-style” campaign called TranStar VR that’s set just before the events of the main game.

As TranStar employees, players must solve intricate puzzles and complete other objectives on board Talos I. This mode will be available on PC and PS VR.

Typhon Hunter multiplayer and TranStar VR release on 11 December on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
