​The E3 2021 Nintendo Direct reveal of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has a lot of people excited about revisiting the beloved strategy series. Many don't realise, however, that Wargroove has been serving as a sterling stand-in.

Wargroove channels Advance Wars heavily, while also expanding upon that series' unique brand of strategic turn-based gameplay. Tackle story mode as an inexperienced young ruler, choose a Commander and head into battle against online rivals, or design maps and custom campaigns using the in-game editor.
