Rockstar had teased a Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement last week, and it turns out it’s a new story trailer.

The trailer introduces us to Arthur Morgan, an outlaw on the run with the Van der Linde gang, who have been plundering their way across the “vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive”. The presence of the Van der Linde gang and their leader, Dutch, confirms this is a prequel, as they were the criminals John Marston was tasked with taking down in the original Red Dead Redemption.

The short but atmospheric trailer gives us a look at some more of the game’s stunning scenery, plus some of the action we will presumably be partaking in, such as train robberies, bank heists and hunting.
 
Red Dead Redemption 2 is set for a spring 2018 release on Xbox One and PS4.
