It appears that avatars will also be getting a visual upgrade. The image seems to show visually upgraded avatars whose new graphical fidelity definitely isn't terrifying at all.
It's not yet known how, or even if, wheelchairs will be integrated into games featuring avatars, but Microsoft have received a lot of praise for the move.
When the wheelchair update goes live we might also see a deeper level of customisation for our digital counterparts. A job posting last year suggested Microsoft were looking to “take Xbox Avatars on their biggest adventure yet with higher fidelity and a bigger stage in new Xbox experiences”.
Avatars were added to the Xbox 360 back in 2008, but were absent when Xbox One launched. Many were pleased when the feature returned as part of the New Xbox One Experience, although very few games or apps have taken advantage of their re-emergence.
