Be sure to keep an eye out for our review, as Sam will be taking it all in via PSVR. Our Deputy Editor also stumbled across this delightful RE7 candle, which promises to enhance the VR experience. What do you think of the trailer? Should Sam burn the candle that he thinks will "make the house smell like damp and rotten meat"? Let us know in the forums or leave a comment below. Scalebound officially canceled10/1/2017 Update President and CEO of Platinum Games, Kenichi Sato, has released a statement following Scalebound's cancellation. "We’re sorry to say that on January 9, 2017, Microsoft Studios announced the cancellation of Scalebound. We are very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were. "Going forward, we will strive to continue delivering high-quality games to you, starting with NieR: Automata in March, and including products like GRANBLUE FANTASY Project Re: Link and LOST ORDER in the future. "We will keep working hard to meet your expectations and we look forward to your continued support!" Original story Microsoft have confirmed that Sclebound, an Xbox One and PC exclusive, is no more. "After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences."
At least Xbox owners still have something to look forward to in 2017, then. What do you think about the news? Were you looking forward to Scalebound, or were you put off by the dodgy performance in early gameplay videos? Let us know in the forums or comments below. If you're the sort of person who likes to wind up cats using a laser pointer, then this trailer is for you. Things almost go to pot when a cat notices the sniper's laser and starts chasing it. Really, take a look. Thankfully the cat survives and cartel member #1 learns a valuable lesson about respecting animals.
Could this be a hint towards an, as of yet, unknown gameplay mechanic? (Probably not, no.) If you want to go hands on with Wildlands before it's release on 7 March, you can sign up to take part in the beta now. What did you think of the trailer? Have you signed up for the beta? Let us know in the forums or leave a comment below Over on Twitter, the appropriately named Sega Nerds have discovered some, potentially, exciting news for Shenmue fans.
"There is definitely a desire to go back to our classic games,” Post said. “Even online, people are constantly talking about products they would like to see come back, and Shenmue 1 and 2 are probably in the top two places. We are looking into it. It is an old IP, it is a beloved IP – and not just by consumers, but also within Sega, we have people saying that if we could do Shenmue 1 and 2 all over again, we’d definitely go for it.”
He continued. “The issue is that it is a big game. It is a project from many years ago. If we are to do it, we’d want to do a fantastic conversion to the current platforms, and there are a lot of licences in the game, which were cleared many years ago, so we will need to renegotiate those contracts. We are looking into it. We haven’t given it a green light, but it has our full attention.” If things don't quite pan out, fans of the series still have one thing to look forward to, as the Kickstarter campaign for Shenmue 3 was a roaring success. The $2,000,000 goal was met and exceeded, with the pot currently sitting at $6,685,971. Although the Kickstarter campaign has ended, you can still donate here to help reach the next stretch goal. Those in the UK/Europe will probably want to catch the highlights at a later time however, as the keynote will take place at 18:30 PT, which is around 2:30am GMT. Mass Effect Andromeda will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Can’t wait to head on an all new adventure in the Mass Effect universe? Let us know in the comments or over in the forums.
