Surgical Scalpels’ space-set multiplayer shooter, Boundary, got a new trailer today alongside news that “if all goes well” there might be potential for a next-gen version.

The new footage highlights zero-g combat and a couple of new assets, showcasing armed astronauts duking it out on the Solar Farm map. It also provides our first look at the re-forged AK assault rifle and tactical ballistic shield ability, which appears to wrap its user in an oversized protective layer. There are plans for a beta in the near future, and it’s also been confirmed that the game will feature 2v2 and 3v3 multiplayer modes alongside the standard 5v5.
We were fortunate enough to go hands-on with Boundary late last year, and while the zero-g combat took some getting used to, the tight gunplay, attention to detail and unique setting left us eager for more.

You can read up on our experience with the preview build here, and learn more about the thought process behind the game in Sam’s interview with Surgical Scalpels CEO and co-founder, Frank Mingbo Li.

No release date has been revealed just yet, though Boundary is said to be coming to PlayStation 4 and PC sometime later this year.

According to the press release, a possible next-gen version could also be on the horizon. That’s not currently definite, however, and there’s been no clarification on whether that’d entail a release on PS5 and/or Xbox Series X.

Let us know your thoughts on the new trailer and whether you’d like to see a next-gen version of Boundary below or over in the forums.
