Chinese indie outfit, Surgical Scalpels, have announced that their multiplayer shooter will release on PS4 later in the year, with Xbox One and PC versions "under consideration." Players will step into the role of a heavily-armoured astronaut engaging in "fierce zero-gravity firefights and executing low-gravity operations on orbiting space installations against enemy astronauts and other entities."
Boundary is designed as a light MOBA-style game with 5v5 tactical combat. The class-based system allows for switching your tactical loadout between light, medium and heavy, with each class using their own Eva mobility units to propel themselves through the battlefield. These mobility units can also house a variety of ordinance such as radar guided rockets, EMP grenades and defensive countermeasures. Weapons range from machine pistols to converted assault rifles to sniper rifles, all with a modular upgrade system to tweak to your liking, and a massive collection of interchangeable components, like optical sights, muzzles, stocks, barrels and foregrips. Ammo types can also be mixed and matched, adding another layer of strategy and increasing the lethality of your firearms. "We couldn't be more excited to announce that Boundary will be coming to console for North America and Europe later this year,” said Frank Mingbo Li, CEO, Technical Director and Founder of Surgical Scalpels. “The support from the China Hero Project has enabled us to bring a new and exciting tactical shooter to a global audience of FPS and sci-fi fans.” Find out more about Surgical Scalpels and their creative process in our interview with Frank Mingbo Li.
