Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have confirmed via a blog post that the third and final expansion for Homefront: The Revolution will launch sometime in March. Also arriving next month is support for the PS4 Pro, which will see a boost to the game’s resolution and performance with “some HDR improvements thrown in” for good measure.
Finally, anyone who has yet to try Homefront: The Revolution will soon be able to thanks to a console trial version of the game’s Resistance mode. Last year’s performance patch was said to have cleared up the many technical problems which plagued The Revolution’s launch, so a trial is no doubt welcome news for those who may have been interested in the game but were put off by reports of issues. Will you be giving Homefront: The Revolution a try when the trial hits consoles? Looking forward to the final expansion? Let us know below or over in the forums. Out of the $900,000 that Erebus LLC were asking for, just under $173,000 has been raised with only 9 days left to go. The project is being moved to a dedicated website and backers can receive a free tier upgrade. Game director, Montgomery Markland, had this to say:
“We are making a unique interactive experience with the Apocalypse Now videogame - it’s like Fallout: New Vegas on acid in Vietnam. The Apocalypse Now team plans to raise $5 million to produce an authentic game that the people want to play." It's not the first time that the film has been in development as a game. In 2009 Montgomery Markland and Larry Liberty, two Erebus co-founders, launched a studio named Killspace. Apocalypse Now was being worked on but in their 3 year runtime, Killspace only completed a single title; a little known remake of the Atari classic, Yar’s Revenge, that released in 2011. Markland believes the studio was a casualty of the recession, which saw many companies go under, but that may not be the whole story. Speaking to The Verge, former employees of Killspace complained of "Thousands of dollars in unpaid wages, erratic and out-of-touch management, and financial decisions that made an already bad situation worse." Regardless of whether or not the accusations are true, Erebus LLC has the backing of Coppola and American Zoetrope, and both Markland and Liberty have had success with other titles since Killspace's closure, including DC Universe Online, Wasteland 2 and the upcoming Torment: Tides of Numenera. The latter two being highly successful Kickstarter projects. Did you back the Kickstarter? Do you think the new platform is a good move for Apocalypse Now? Pokémon GO players will start to see 80 new monsters cropping up in the wild sometime later this week, Niantic and The Pokémon Company have announced. The new evolution items allow trainers “to evolve their Pokémon into ones that were originally discovered in the Johto region,” and two berries add a couple of new gameplay features.
The Nanab Berry slows down a Pokémon’s movements, while the Pinap Berry rewards trainers with double Candy if the next capture attempt is successful. Trainer avatars are also getting some love in the update, with more customisation options in the form of hats, shirts, pants and other items, some of which will be available from the in-game Pokémon GO shop. Which Pokémon from the Johto region are you hoping to see out in the wild this week? Let us know below or in the forums. For the first time ever, a mainline Zelda title will be releasing with an expansion pass. Purchase grants users access to three separate DLC drops. Second is DLC Pack 1, which is set to drop in summer. Expect a new Cave Of Trials challenge, a new hard difficulty mode and an additional map feature. Lastly, DLC Pack 2 is due for release in late 2017. It adds a new original story, a new dungeon and new challenges. You might think that the promise of even more Zelda would excite fans of the series, but if the YouTube dislike ratio is anything to go by, many aren’t happy at all. At the time of writing ⅓ of voters have displayed their displeasure by leaving a thumbs-down on the video.
For every comment praising the relatively cheap asking price of $20, there's one lamenting the fact that they'll have to pay an additional charge to get the full experience. Games publisher/developer Rebellion have said they are open to other developers making games based on 2000AD’s vast library of characters and worlds, of which they hold the rights to.
This means we could potentially get a new game starring Judge Dredd, something I’ve been hoping to see for some time now, while Kingsley himself would like to “see someone take on Mega City One’s Helltrekkers.”
While this is good news for fans of 2000AD and Rebellion games in general, Kingsley expects “dozens rather than hundreds of inquiries” from potentially interested developers, with four or five games from other developers released in the near future. Which developer would you like to see take on a project from 2000AD? Let us know in the forums or in the comments below. The show’s producer, Adi Shankar, claims "this is very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones," and that the series is going to be, "R-rated as f**k."
