Deck13 have released a new trailer that details some of the meaty combat mechanics players will experience in their hardcore action RPG, The Surge. In the six-minute long video, members of The Surge’s development team discuss the game’s story, combat mechanics, and the “rich, secret-filled” near future setting. To ensure that Warren didn’t feel like an “overpowered superhero,” Deck13 kitted out the stuntman who provided the motion capture for the game’s protagonist with 20kg of added weight, which gave his movements a realistic, weighty feel to them.
If you like what you saw, then be sure to keep an eye out for our review of The Surge when it releases 16 May on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Bethesda and Arkane Studios’ Prey reboot is out in just a couple of days, so here’s a launch trailer to help you mentally prepare for the hordes of shape-shifting aliens. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users interested in Arkane Studios’ reboot can give the game a try thanks to a free demo that released a few weeks ago, which allows players to experience Prey’s opening hour.
Prey is out 5 May on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Will you be tangling with the Typhon later this week? Let us know. Ubisoft have announced a free weekend for their MMO-like shooter, with PC, PS4 and Xbox One players able to play the entirety of the base game for free during the course of the four-day event. Of course, people who are interested in The Division have been able try the game for a while now, thanks to the free trial that went live on all platforms earlier in the year, but this weekend does away with the restrictions found in the extended demo.
Previously, players could only use the trial until they hit six-hours of game time, or their character reached level 8, but those restrictions are being put on “hiatus”, according to Ubisoft, with those who downloaded the trial before 4 May able to play on with no limits until the free weekend’s conclusion on Monday. As well as the free weekend, Ubisoft are also planning to release the first two major updates from The Division’s Year 2 content, which should be launching for free across all platforms sometime “in the coming months”. Will you be giving The Division a try this weekend? Let us know below or over in the forums. After recently confirming that their next project won’t be a Microsoft exclusive, Remedy Entertainment have announced a new partnership deal with publisher 505 Games, a subsidiary of Digital Bros. CEO of Digital Bros, Raffaele Galante, said the newly announced partnership was a “sign of how far 505 Games has come,” and that the two company’s business objectives are “very well-aligned,” while Remedy’s own CEO, Tero Virtala, said 505 bring “experience and competences” that will help them achieve their unique vision of what P7 should be.
We already know that P7 is being developed with Remedy’s Northlight engine - which was used to make Quantum Break - and that it will be multiplatform, but today’s announcement also included a few more details about the game, which is said to be a cinematic, third-person action title set in a newly created Remedy universe. P7 will have the “deepest game mechanics yet” seen in any Remedy game, according to the blog post, with an “intriguing story and a game structure offering a long-lasting experience.” Let us know your thoughts on the Remedy and 505 Games’ new partnership in the comments or over in the forums.
