Call of Duty have released a new video showing off some extended gameplay of Modern Warfare Remastered. While the set-pieces may have lost some of their impact for those of us who played the original 2007 release, the remaster is looking undeniably stunning thanks in part to improved textures and lighting.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered comes bundled with both the Legacy Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition of the next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise, Infinite Warfare, which launches on 4 November. With the arrival of update 1.6, Bethesda's Fallout Shelter is now available on PC.
Since its inception, Fallout Shelter has received numerous updates, including pets, crafting, scrapping and junk, additional rooms, Fallout 4 characters, and special customisation options for your dwellers. Over 50 million players have downloaded the mobile app and taken on the post-nuclear wasteland, as you can see in the infographic the developers have provided: The latest update adds a quest system, which allows you to take control of your dwellers and travel to new locations, like abandoned buildings and old vaults, or even familiar spots from Fallout such as the Red Rocket Fuel Stop and the Super Duper Mart.
Those choosing to partake in quests outside of the vault will come up against Radscorpions, Ghouls and a few bosses which can be dispatched using the new combat system. After grabbing some loot you can call your settlers back with a nice cool bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum. If this all sounds a little overwhelming, you can purchase the starter pack which grants you a special dweller and some much needed resources. There’s still no word on whether the game will be making an appearance on consoles anytime soon. Will you be downloading the PC version of Fallout Shelter? Let us know in the forums or comment below. Nintendo have revealed that the NES will be returning to shops more than three decades after it originally launched, this time as the NES: Classic Edition. Nintendo are aware technology has advanced a touch since the 80’s, so they've integrated an HDMI port to be fully compatible with today’s HD sets. Prices are set to start at $59.99 for the console and $9.99 for additional controllers. There’s no UK or European pricing just yet, but expect a regional equivalent when the console launches on 11 November. Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime shared a few reasons why Nintendo are bringing their classic console to the fore once again:
“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” he said. “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers.” The games included in the NES: Classic Edition are as follows:
Some games will support local two-player action with the additional purchase of a second controller (both the standard Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro are also compatible), and each game will support multiple suspend points, meaning you can stop playing without losing your progress. Will you be looking to relive some of your classic gaming memories with the NES: Classic Edition this November? Or maybe you missed out on the console the first time around and want to experience those iconic titles for the first time? Let us know in the forums or leave a comment below. Writing on Xbox wire, Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Xbox Games Marketing, confirmed that whilst there would be no Xbox briefing at this year’s Gamescom, they’ll still be in attendance for a more intimate Xbox FanFest event. Greenberg also stated that more info’s on the way soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
Sony declined to hold a press conference at last year's Gamescom, opting to put on a separate event at Paris Games Week shortly after. It's not yet known whether PlayStation will have a presence in Cologne, but given the absence of any news about the NEO during their E3 showing, we could see an official reveal very soon. Gamescom kicks off 16 August, we'll keep you up-to-date with any news. Are you excited for the event? Think the transition to Xbox FanFest is a good move? Let us know in the forums or comment below. The newest member of the squad (and mother of Pharah) is both a capable healer and a deadly sniper. See her in action below. Ana’s biotic rifle grants her the ability to heal allies from a distance, but if the sights are trained on an enemy it will instead launch an offensive, much to the chagrin of Mercy, we assume. Ana also possesses a sidearm that fires sleep darts and will knock an opponent unconscious for a few seconds, or until damage is dealt to them.
A biotic grenade restores health to any friendlies within a small area, also boosting any healing they receive. Conversely, any foes in the area will take damage and be unable to heal for a short period. Finally, her ultimate ability, Nano Boost, will gift one of her teammates a combat boost providing increased speed, damage output and resistance for a short time. Along with newcomer Ana, expect a bunch of bug fixes, quality of life improvements and adjustments to maps and characters. The full patch notes can be found here. There's no release date yet, but all characters released post-launch will be available to everyone at no extra cost. Excited about a new hero to play as? Let us know in the forums or comment below. According to sources close to Eurogamer, the bundle featuring remasters of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City could be delayed for a significant amount of time.
No alternative release date was given, and if the rumours are to believed, the new target window of November could be pushed back even further, potentially into early next year.
The quality of the port is cited as the reason for the delay, specifically the game’s frame rate, which is apparently a “major issue." It’s not the first time Warner Bros. have had issues with Arkham ports; the PC version of Arkham Knight suffered a notoriously poor launch, leading to sales of the game being suspended until it could be fixed. It seems the publisher does not want to make the same mistakes again, meaning it may be some time before we see Batman: Return to Arkham coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Let us know your thoughts on the rumours over in the forums or comment below. It looks as though the newest team member could be a support-sniper. In a message to fellow Overwatch team mates, Soldier: 76 and Reaper, Torbjörn states:
"As discussed, this is the proposed rifle that could be equipped by medics in the field. Despite what my esteemed colleague will surely suggest, the application of her biotic technology is only intended to be used for healing." Mercy isn't exactly enthused with the news, however, responding: "While Torbjörn has, as ever, put forth a very clever design for his latest weapon, I would like to remind everyone that my intention when agreeing to the development of different biotic delivery mechanisms was to save the lives of Overwatch agents and others in need of medical aid. With this latest proposal, it is clear to me that we are on the slippery slope to modifications that will inevitably result in a weaponized version of this technology: something that I have been completely opposed to from the beginning." Due to hints included in the game, many fans believe that the new sniper could be named Sombra, the Spanish for 'Shadow'. On the Dorado map, newspapers strewn across the street read "Quien es Sombra?" (“Who is Shadow?”) and a classified file titled "Sombra" can be found in the LumeriCo building. Also, one of Reaper's voice lines, "Where’s Sombra when you need her?", could suggest a healer type. Convinced yet? Come and speculate with us in the forums or comment below. Evolve goes free-to-play7/7/2016 Turtle Rock Studios' asymmetrical multiplayer title is now free on PC via Steam. You can catch the re-launch trailer below: Founders will receive exclusive badges, skins and other cosmetic items, 3,000 Silver Keys (a new in-game currency), all past and future Adaptations for previously owned Hunters and Monsters, dozens of Weapon Skins and four unique, animated Founder badges.
Co-founders of Turtle Rock Studios, Chris Ashton and Phil Robb have penned a letter to the community listing some of the reasons why Evolve has changed to a free-to-play model: “...when Evolve launched, the reception wasn’t what we expected. Sure, there were some good reviews. There were also bad reviews. Yes, there was excitement. There was also disappointment – for players and for us. The DLC shitstorm hit full force and washed away people’s enthusiasm, dragging us further and further from that first magical pick-up-and-play experience,” they said. “We want that magic back and we aim to make it happen. We’ve made a lot of changes, improvements and additions to Evolve over the past year and we’ve got a lot more coming. In short, we’re giving this game a vigorous overhaul!” The developers have overhauled many of the game's systems whilst changing to a free-to-play model. There'll always be 4 hunters and 1 monster to play as, which will change weekly, and 2 characters can be unlocked by completing the tutorials. If you already own Markov and Goliath you'll instead be rewarded a large number of Silver Keys. Silver keys can otherwise be earned by logging in every day, playing matches, completing challenges and levelling up. These are used to purchase characters, skins and perks. Hunters have been tweaked to help with balancing and to be less reliant on having experienced Medics and Trappers on the team:
There's a long list of other changes and bug fixes which can be found here. Console players needn't feel left out as Evolve will be going free-to-play on all platforms after the PC beta period.
